And for rightful reason. The March 1 Tokyo Marathon, one of the world’s largest and part of the coveted Abott World Marathon Majors, barred 38,000 non-elite runners from competing. The Rome Marathon preemptively cancelled its March 29 race of over 10,000 runners, and the Paris Half Marathon postponed their event the day prior to its scheduled running, giving 44,000 athletes last-minute notice.
